On May 8th, from 2 to 6 pm, the Solvang Chamber will be hosting CycleMAYnia at the park.

This event aims to encourage biking as a means of promoting good health and well-being among our community members. The chamber will have water, pins, and wristbands available for all attendees.

Furthermore, the chamber would like to extend a special offer to those who choose to ride their bikes to the park. In addition to the aforementioned items, they will also receive a backpack/water bottle, and a little lunch bag. Additionally, the chamber will be distributing maps of bike trails courtesy of SBGAC, enabling cyclists to explore the beautiful trails the SYV area has to offer. The theme is “Lashing Out for Spring of Good Summer Health.”

Dr. Js Bicycle Shop will have a tent in the park with free helmets and water bottles for kids who ride their bikes to the event. Dr. J’s is raffling a brand-new kids bike.

Prepare to take a scenic journey on this 13.1-mile course that winds through the Santa Ynez Valley bordered by vineyards and the Sierra Madre Mountains. The course starts in downtown Solvang, then passes through the quaint town of Los Olivos, making its way up Corkscrew Hill before the beautiful run down Ballard Canyon to the grand finish on Copenhagen Drive in the heart of historic Solvang. Along the way you’ll wind through clusters of horse ranches, fruit orchards, lavender farms, and vineyards.

Unfortunately we are going to cancel the May 11th ProStock, Modified, SprtMod, and Hobby Stock races as we will not have everything ready to our satisfaction. We feel the first night back has to go right and there are a few elements missing that we don’t want to do without. We were planning on an open practice this weekend, but the bottom of turn one is still a bit soft to fully grade the track. There is a lot of new clay back on the track and the shaping is coming along great. We have new reclaimed clay on the bottom ready to be mixed into the track as soon as it is dry enough to work with. May 11 will now be the Open Practice for all big track divisions. The Kart Weekend will still be on Memorial Day Weekend. The whole Pombo Family was here over the weekend working on all corners of the property to get things ready. Work continues every day to get to our new opening night on June 15 with the USCS Sprints, USACWS Midgets, WRA Vintage, and the NMRA TQ Midgets for the Ron Otto Memorial. Thank you to everyone for supporting our work to get racing back at this historic track. You will be hearing the roar of the engines soon!

We are working hard to get next weekend's Open Practice going on schedule, but recent rains has slowed down the track work that the Pombo's have focused on in the past few weeks. Cleanup and track work continues to be open on May 11 for the Tri-State ProStock opener. Thank you for the support and patience as we work to get this track open again for all to enjoy. New website being built and will be available soon. Also, in talks to add at least one or two additional races in the summertime. Stay Tuned!

Alma Rosa Winery is continuing its commitment to mental health-related causes with its fifth annual Peace of Mind: 10,000 Steps in the Right Direction fundraising walk on Saturday, May 18, 2024. Funds raised from this event will support community services, research and treatment for anxiety and depression through two beneficiaries, Santa Barbara’s Mental Wellness Center and One Mind.

The 10,000-step walk (approximately 4.5 miles) will take place at Alma Rosa’s beautiful 628-acre Sta. Rita Hills estate, located north of Santa Barbara near the town of Buellton, Calif.
